LSD, Harmala alkaloids and the 5HT2A receptor

Unread post by Wozzi7 »

Hello all,

Recently, I took LSD with friends and realized that this really does fix PSSD for me. For almost exactly a month afterwards, recovery is at around 65% (taking no other substances/supplements during that period). After the month is up, it immediately reverses, but not completely. For a better explanation, read the next paragraph.

However, I don't think this works by itself but instead in conjunction with Harmala alkaloids (another thread in this Forum talks about the posters experiments/effects). A few months ago, I took 0.2 g of harmala alkaloids and even now I seemed to have kept the small gains in erection strength after taking them. It also seems to have sensitized other parts of the brain.

When I took LSD prior to the Harmala alkaloids, I had none of the pro-sexual effects. This only happened after. I haven't taken harmala alkaloids since that first dose.

I've read online that LSD primarily acts on the 5HT2A receptor. Does anyone know what supplements/medicines act on this receptor?

Interested in this, and I suspect myself to have 5ht2a hypoactivity, im basically immune to shrooms, where my friends be tripping balls I merely feel some dejavus thats about it.

Inositol, ashwagandha, cannabis/cb2-cb1? agonists, oleamide seems pretty strong, like 300% potentiation, liftmode has this i havent tried it yet (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9928256), st johns wort (well known to upregulate 5ht2a with chronic use), panax ginseng (antidepressant mechanisms is dependant upon 5ht2a activation).

Have you considered chronic dosing of passionflower?

Passiflora incarnata L. Improves Spatial Memory, Reduces Stress, and Affects Neurotransmission in Rats.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26814055

"The aim of the present study was to evaluate the behavioral and neurochemical effects of long-term oral administration of P. incarnata. The passionflower extract (30, 100, or 300 mg/kg body weight/day) was given to 4-week-old male Wistar rats via their drinking water. Tests were conducted after 7 weeks of treatment. Spatial memory was assessed in a water maze, and the levels of amino acids, monoamines, and their metabolites were evaluated in select brain regions by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). We observed reduced anxiety and dose-dependent improvement of memory in rats given passionflower compared to the control group. In addition, hippocampal glutamic acid and cortical serotonin content were depleted, with increased levels of metabolites and increased turnover. Thus, our results partially confirmed the proposed mechanism of action of P. incarnata involving GABAA receptors. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd."

Im pretty sure you know how to access the full study, anyways they list about every neurotransmitter thats altered with either a 30mg/kg, 100mg/kg and 300mg/kg dose.
Quite dramatic reductions in serotonin in some brain areas, they measured the PFC, hippocampus, hypothalamus and striatum.
A fairly strong decrease of serotonin in the PFC in that study, though not sure if that would be a good thing considering you want serotonin in the PFC to activate mesolimbic dopamine AFAIK?
Passionflower is a good source of harmala like substances.

Let us know how it goes for you if you continue or are going to experiment a bit with things.

There was someone else talking about harmala alkaloids and ayahuasca (sp?) on here before, saying they helped him with pssd. For me LSD alone did not have much of an impact on pssd as far as Im aware
21, male, extreme pssd for four years
Tried inositol (slight improvements) cialis (very limited improvements) yohimbine (slight improvements) maca root (no effect) bacopa monieri (no effect) estradiol-17b (pronounced improvement in all areas of sexuality)
