Has anyone specifically regained the ability to have a pleasurable orgasm?

Unread post by PAT »

This is by far the worst part of PSSD for me. My libido, ability to get aroused, and genital sensation are all damaged -- but at least they're still there. Weaker than they used to be, but still there. My enjoyment of orgasm, however, is completely gone. Every orgasm is completely pleasureless. This is the result of a few months of Citalopram usage, and it's still affecting me years later.

When I read about people who have experienced some degree of recovery from PSSD, I'm never quite sure what they mean, because PSSD is such a broad spectrum. Are there any cases of people regaining the ability to have a pleasurable orgasm? I'm female, but I'd be interested in examples of male recovery as well.

Yeah, ive had PSSD for 5 years now, the pleasureless ejaculation was from Fluoxetine. Within the last year or so i believe my orgasms have improved somewhat. Ive had a handful of them this year that i consider to be very close to my pre-PSSD state.

Now most of the time they are "meh" to "actually felt pretty decent, but not earthshattering like before" but occasionally i do get a really good one. Compared to 2/3 years ago when i felt pretty much nothing at all when coming, id say its improved but not fully.

The only thing ive really taken the past few years regularly is Pramipexole, Cialis, and sometimes Ashwagandha. And i don't really attribute the improvements to Pramipexole because i never feel like it changes anything sexually, it just helps with depression. Who knows, though.

Have you tried Buspirone or Bupropion to see if that has an effect on things?

I'm glad things have improved for you, Gameclay. I would definitely prefer a "decent but not earth-shattering" orgasm to the ones I have now! It's been more than a decade, so I feel that the chances of spontaneous recovery are unlikely for me. I tried Pramipexole for a few months but it didn't help at all. I'm reluctant to try Ashwagandha because I've heard that it can worsen PSSD. I have tried Bupropion and it temporarily increases my libido but has absolutely no effect on orgasms. I've been wondering for a while if Buspirone would be worth a try.

Male. Pssd for 5 years here.

Orgasm was muted for the first 2 years. After that, it started getting better.

But I still have zero libido zero arousal and erectile dysfunction so orgasming from intercourse is almost impossible and very lame.

Male here,

I got anhedonic orgasms and numb genitals while on sertraline and unfortunately for many years after tapering it, I have taken buproprion many years after quiting SSRI, it helped many other symptoms, like cognitive and mood symptoms but not much sexual ones in my case. The drug which restored it at the point of enjoying it more than before sertraline was buspirone at high doses, which has a similar mechanism of Addyii (both well already tested also in female sexual disorder), I am tapering it now but I am still not sure if I would go to zero.

Thank you all for answering. I will definitely ask my doctor about Buspirone.

There's a company just researching how to optimize the dosing schedule for better results, also combining with other pro-sexual agents.

But the combination is not approved for sales yet.

After using 150mg Bupropion for 3 days, I regained full orgasm sensation. The sensation was actually better than before having PSSD. I tested the medication for a total of 3 weeks. In this (maybe somewhat short trial) it didn't help with ED, libido, genital numbness. The effect on orgasm sensation has persisted after stopping, I would say that orgasm sensation is at pre-PSSD level now. Side effects were insomnia and nervousness.
