Need advice on regimen

Unread post by Broken »

Recently I've resolved to make lifestyle decisions like adopting the keto diet and exercising an hour each day. I even purchased a Bathmate however I can't use it because my genitals have shrunk to a pathetic nub. I'm not able to jelq or masturbate effectively, so I'm stumped outside of basic solutions like losing weight and eating watermelon for its l-citruline content.

I've wanted to dose viagra, levitra and other pro-sexual drugs yet am wary about priapism, dodgy third-party sellers and ocular damage. My libido is still going strong and I want to take ownership of my life, yet I need guidance. What would be my next step?
2010~2012: Prozac, Concerta, Wellbutrin (no effects)
2012~2018: Effexor with 150 mg being typical dose. Weaned off March, reinstatement in June, abrupt cessation in September.
Severe ED, less ejaculate, definitive shrinkage, lack of libido, anhedonia.

I don't feel comfortable giving anyone advice as am still in the midst of dragging myself out of this hole too but I can tell you a few things that helped me. Hopefully they help you out.

It sounds like you have many different symptoms, as I did (and still do). I'd encourage you to document them for yourself. As you go through the process it's hard to remember what you were going through before, so take some time to write down where you are TODAY. Think about every possible thing that comes to your mind, even if it doesn't seem related (not just sexual either, do you have brain fog? forgetfulness? language or memory issues? loss of motivation? stomach issues? can you dream? lookup the listing of PSSD symptoms and see what you think applies to you). Once you have this you can start trying to knock down the issues one-by-one. Also, try to keep a continuous journal (I try everyday, but often miss some days) and make notes about what you're regime involves, what your eating, exercise, and other relevant things you think might me important (mood, relationships, etc) and also any improvements, declines, or other changes you notice. Also keep track of when and what you've been drinking, other drugs, or medicines you've taken (although I would limit all of this as much as possible) This will help keep you on track, give you a resource for what works *for you*, and also give you a reminder of where you came from down the road.

So you mention shrinkage and it also seems like maybe loss of libido. I think the shrinkage thing is something you need to address asap. You gotta get blood flowing down there. First of all just for a penile health matter (there's a reason our bodies have morning wood) but also psychologically its important to see that the things you're doing are having an effect. For me, I got that with ginkgo biloba (I took 120mg every morning and later added another 120mg at dinner). Eating lots of watermelon and beetroot juice will help too. Just taking ginkgo for a couple weeks, I could see a slight improvement. Not magic, but enough that I could see what I was doing was having an impact.

I'm not sure if you're having MW or not, but I suspect not if you're shrinkage is that severe. You need to get that back. Not every day, but at least once in a while. I honestly believe that is you body's way of healing down there. So for me, taking zinc and magnesium seemed to bring that back. Don't overdo it though... a lot of these things *more is not necessarily better*. When I took 25mg Zinc and 250 mg Magnesium that seemed to help. Doubling those amounts seemed to kill it for me. I think zinc and magnesium is a bit tricky and you want to be careful to not take too much so sometimes I would take it every other day.

Also, most all of the supplements, in my mind, should be cycled - meaning take it for a period of time and then stop taking it for a period and then resume. You're trying to (re)train you body about what it needs. And hopefully kick start it to get it from the food you eat normally. I don't know what the correct periods are here but I've experimented with 1 month on and 1 week off, or 2 weeks, and currently I'm doing 2 months on and maybe 1 month off (with different supplements)... I'm not sure yet.

So with all that said, you also mentioned taking Viagra or other such. I'd say you should talk to a doctor about it but I think it can also play an important part of letting you know that things are indeed capable of functioning down there. I think once you're shrinkage is a bit better you could try a low dose. Again, I think this can be beneficial for penile health as well. Try to find the minimum dose that has an affect for you (for me it was only about 12mg), the pills can be divided multiple times. I'm not sure about continuously taking low dosing Viagra as I think you can build up a tolerance to it. So I would say use your minimum dose when you want to have a special night with (hopefully) your girlfriend. Ultimately, of course the goal is to not require such tools, but I think it can be helpful both psychologically and physically.

Of course, your milage may vary for all of this, but I hope this helps and gives you the confidence to move forward. Best of luck!

What's the problem exactly? erectile dysfunction and genital shrinkage?

I have four major issues that prohibit me from living a good life: slurred speech, brain fog, penile shrinkage and erectile dysfunction. My PSSD occurred in May of 2018 from Effexor withdrawal and hasn't let up since.

Slurred speech makes me think there is an abnormality in glutamate-GABA balance. Brainfog would follow the same pattern. How does coffee affect these two symptoms?

Apologies for reporting back late, I try not to visit the forum too often so it doesn't adversely affect my mood.

I am not a coffee drinker, yet will report back after drinking some to see if there any effect.

@Meso

I got around to drinking coffee and noticed little in the way of improvement.

Are there any other recommendations that could resolve said abnormality?
