melissa officinalis ( lemon balm) Crash? Help!
melissa officinalis ( lemon balm) Crash? Help!
I took this herb and now I feel completely sexually numb. I'm freaking out really bad, can't believe that maybe I have crashed again? I've just read it's a
serotonergic antidepressant.
I've also found this study, does this means it acts as an SSRI?

I'm sorry, it is the first time I have heard that about the sides of this plant. However it shouldn't be permanent, I think in a couple of days, or a week you will be back to your baseline.

Could you explain further? At this moment I feel I'm back to square 1. They conclude it's a serotonergic antidepressant.Thomas wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 12:01 pmNo.Gonzo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 7:31 am I've also found this studies, does this means it acts as an SSRI?

You will bounce back.
Lemon balm, amongst SO many other herbs can crash me too. Very annoying. Give it a week or so.
Lemon balm has serotonin boosting properties or even some of its constituents can bind to 5-HT1A receptor I believe.

Yes, it's unbelievable. I needed something for anxiety and had the idea that natural herbs could be safe. I was trying to avoid benzos, but it seems that even benzos are safer than herbs in our case.

Benzos are safe, justo avoid take it for long time and / or high dosing.

This is so scary. I've completely lost the orgasm and ejaculation with very little amount of semen, along with full genital anesthesia.

There are many ways for an antidepressant to be serotonergic (= affect serotonin signaling). Inhibiting serotonin reuptake is one of them. They conclude it is serotonergic, they don't conclude it inhibits serotonin reuptake.

This is a false assumption.
Natural doesn't mean safe (for instance, cyanide can be extracted from apricot). Natural doesn't even mean safer (nor more dangerous).
Natural would usually mean:
- low concentration => low effect, except for "extracts"
- more history, fewer reports and research => we understand usually better drugs.
