Help with 23andme data

Unread post by Twentyoneguns »

A few years ago I did a 23andme test to help with Ghost's genome study.

I had a very serious immediate adverse reaction to Sertraline and I am curious to know if I am a "slow metabolizer" of this drug, (or any other drug I might have to take in the future and might give me trouble).

Wikipedia states that the main P450 enzyme responsible for metabolizing Sertraline is CYP2B6....other sites suggest CYP2C19.....while to a lesser extent CYP2C9, CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 are responsible.

An example of the data I have is presented in the form below:

(there are 100s of lines!)

# rsid chromosome position genotype
rs548049170 1 69869 TT
rs9283150 1 565508 AA
rs116587930 1 727841 GG
rs3131972 1 752721 GG
rs12184325 1 754105 CC

I wonder if anyone can explain how to interpret this data to determine if I am a "slow metabolizer"?

Thanks for reading.

Male
PSSD after 3 days on Sertraline (50mg) (Aurobindo) December 2016 to date.
Tinnitus, insomnia (1.5 hours/night sleep) poor memory/cognition as a bonus!
Possibly PSSD from October 1998...just didn't realise what I was suffering from! (pre internet)

Are you sure 23andme can answer this question?
"Genetic antidepressant metabolism" is a test done by the genesight company and they work with clinics and psychiatrists that asks for an assessment like any other medical exam.
Wellbutrin (2007 - 2018)
Wellbutrin + Sertraline (2015)
Wellbutrin + Ritalin (2016 - 2018)
Wellbutrin + Ritalin + Sertraline (3 months in 2018)
Buspirone (Feb 2019 - Today)
Ritalin + Buspirone (Nov 2019 - today)

you can take a test from Genomind or something similar, that will give you a profile more related to drug metabolism. But this is just suggestive data, I dont think theres anything actionable there. Drug metabolism is a complex, polygenic process, and there isn't enough data to draw any real inference.
