PSSD = Withdrawal?

Unread post by FindGoodNickname »

Hello!

I would like to ask if PSSD is simply withdrawal from a drug.
And if not, why not.

Or does nobody know?
I guess nobody really knows, right?

I imagine it like somebody stopping a hard drug. I have heard that these people take realllllly long until they can feel joy again. Same mechanism?

Thank you!

I would say... it's unclear :)
In some cases, PSSD is a new set of symptoms that occurred upon withdrawal. That is the case for 37% of respondents here: https://www.pssdforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3828).
In some cases, PSSD is a set of symptoms that persists (even decreased) after withdrawal. 43% of respondents.

In my case, I had genital numbness before withdrawal, and I still have, anhedonia and insomnia afterwards. But is it persisting numbness or something else causing it? I mean, maybe I am cured of the numbness I had with SSRIs and something else triggers numbness now. In this case, this would be 100% withdrawal.
Every doctor I spoke to about my symptoms thought "withdrawal".
Escitalopram, 10mg/day, Jan-May 2019. Fluoxetine, May-Sept 2019. Mirtazapine 7,5mg/day, November 2019-January 2020. Escitalopram, 5mg/day, Feb-May 2020.
Symptoms: sexual & emotional numbness
