Things that work for me

Unread post by BlackCat »

Hi everyone, I got PSSD after only 30 days of using Escitalopram. It is permanent, been going on for 2 years now. Whoever approved SSRI-s is responsible for a lot of damage. I know they help many people, but for a certain percentage of us, they are absolutely life ruining. Not only has it destroyed my libido, it has changed the way my bowels work permanently. My stools are looser now, for the rest of my life. There are very few approved drugs out there that can cause PERMANENT damage in small therapeutic doses. How is this acceptable?

In those two years I've done a lot of research, but found no real cure, just stuff to help the symptoms. Here is what helps:

- sunflower lecithin, it is used to make acetylcholine and acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter for getting aroused. When I take sunflower lecithin, the next day I can have an erection that actually feels good and there is a lot more pre-cum. It doesn't get me back to pre-SSRI libido, nothing does, but it does bring it up 40%
- yohimbine, this stuff also helps but it causes anxiety and sweating and I don't like using it
- Maca also helps but it causes sweating so I don't like using Maca either
- Modafinil, this is a stimulant used in people with narcolepsy, but also used by people to treat ADHD or just brain fog, a side effect is that it helps libido, like really well. It's the only thing that makes me crazy about sex again and orgasms feel amazing. The problem is getting it prescribed, because I don't have narcolepsy. Adrafinil is a legal alternative and it works also, but not so powerful.
- Zinc, this helps only 10% but when taken regularly you get horny every 3-4 days, which is still great for a person whose genitals have been dead from pssd
- Tribulus, helps as much as lecithin, but shouldn't be taken long term because when you stop then your libido will really be 0% for a while

Interestingly Cialis doesn't help at all. Which just goes to show that this is a problem that is completely in the brain. I'm a young male and my body is not the problem nor my heart, it's just neurotransmitters.

Tried 5mg twice, almost nothing. Lecithin works better than Cialis, imagine that.

I was really hoping Moclobemide would solve the pssd since many studies say it's great for sssri induced sexual dysfunction but no such luck. Only minor improvements. Now I wanna convince my doctor to try selegiline. I respond well to anything that stimulates dopamine release.

When I was taking an SSRI I used to sleep for 12 hours a day and wake up sleepy. I should have stopped sooner, but everybody said they take some time to work.

Well, can't say it's good now, in the winter days. I get lonely. But even when I'm feeling good and when I'm with friends, my libido still sucks. It doesn't depend on my mental state really. I used to be depressed and horny.

5mg is a small amount for one-time dosing. People take 5mg daily to build up appropriate blood levels for function. For as-needed purposes, you should experiment with 10mg / 20mg dosing. You will have much better results.

Somebody on this forum mentioned eating ground beef. Even before this forum I have discovered on my own that eating ground beef does give me better boners. I wonder if it does the same for people who don't have PSSD and also I wonder WHY does it help

Yes, hamburgers help with erection, maybe because nitrates.

There are no nitrates in ground beef.

Improvement in erections from ground beef could be from improved hormone levels. Saturated fat and dietary cholesterol are generally viewed as favourable for testosterone production for example, as are micronutrients like zinc which beef is high in.

I feel with you. Have PSSD/PFS two years now and think also I will have this forever.
Lecithine only had a effect on orgasm at beginning, I could still feel them hours later, but sadly this was just temporary.
Yohimbine I want try next. And thanks for the info with the Tribulus thing, I have stopped it and was wondered why my libido is more non existent then ever before. We are fucked :/
June 2015 - April 2016 Fluoxetine
April 2016 - March 2017 Fluvoxamine
December 2017 9 days Trazodone
After Trazodone PSSD: loss of libido & spontaneous/night/morning erections, prostate/pelvic pain, genital numbness, lower sperm count, Anhedonia

It's improving some aspect of the testosterone signaling process, that I've identified is almost definitely impaired in a large majority of PSSD folks. I'm trying to determine what effect it's having on LH. Some PSSD folks have elevated LH, which is triggering a compensative down-regulation (if you will) of testosterone signaling, despite normal test numbers. -- Overall, beef is GOOD for this condition.
