Re: Sertraline reinstatement

Unfortunately, my libido and anesthesia are not really persistent.

Currently it's like that: I take 10 mg of Sertraline, and my libido goes up and anesthesia is much less. Then after 2 hours, the effects are more or less gone.
So it's like a motor that does not start... You turn the key, and the motor is somehow alive and makes ratteling noises, but doesn't really start.

I don't drink, and I don't smoke anyways.

Depression and sexuality are totally independed for me, but thanks for asking.

It's really difficult for me to find the right amount.
Today, I have used 5 mg each 1.5 hours because I wanted to give myself a constant feed of the medication.

At some point, it worked really nicely on my sexuality. I felt a bit horny.
Then watching porn felt great.
My orgasm was great, I yelled when I came, and the ejaculation width and volume was big.

It's still not where it used to be.
It feels like small windows only where libido suddenly appears for a short amount of time. but at least it's not totally hopeless.
And my chronic fatigue is gone, so I will continue using Sertraline again.

I wanted to give a warning: I am NOT a fan of Sertraline. I hope I don't make this impression. If anybody reads this who does NOT have PSSD, then I can only advise against ever using Sertraline so that there is no chance of getting PSSD in the first place.

Have you looked into the Pharmacokinetics of Sertraline?

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12452737/

It seems to have a long half-life > 24 h, then it is eliminated slowly, and at that rate, it should reach a steady plasma level in a week or so.

Thank you, but I don't understand what you want to tell me. For me, it seems to have a rather short effect only.

Sertraline is dopaminergic, maybe 1.5h after dosing has more effects on dopamine vs seretonine.

A quick update: My libido towards my girlfriend is very high again since reinstatement. Also, when I look at other girls, I see the entire image. Before reinstatement, I looked at them more like a doctor who inspects a patient and thinks "Small, even nose", "Big lips", V-shaped face. Now I just think "Uuuuh nice! It does something with me."

Since taking Sertraline again, coming from sex is really hard. I know this from my Sertraline experience, so this is no news.
But erection is amazing, and libido, too.
And I feel good from Sertraline psychologically.

So except for orgasm you are more or less cured?

I would consider myself cured if I feel like masturbating 2x a day again and having overwhelming orgasms again.

And the inability to orgasm with my gf bothers me. But it was always like that for me when I used Sertraline. My gf also used an antidepressant, and she had the same problem to get an orgasm back then.
But apart from that, it's good.

Yes, I did not regret reinstating so far. But I will keep posting, and I'm also writing my diary.
But I have noticed that I have to totally force myself to keep writing it because it's not such a huge problem anymore for me.

I think it took around 1.5 months of reinstating for the sex problems to change, so perhaps it will even improve further.

ps:
For objective measurement I use volume of ejaculation and width of ejaculation, btw.
And I can say that this definitively improved for me.

Interesting. Please keep us updated. Can you perhaps make your own post for this so that our experiences are kept well organized and separate? This would be most helpful, I think.
