Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms)

Unread post by Ghost »

I'm hijacking this thread originally posted by scot in Oct. 2015 and turning it into a thread for use of Psilocybin in treating of mental illness and PSSD. This thread will serve as the center for discussing Psilocybin's role in bettering our experience of the world.

Psilocybin is illegal in most countries. I do not endorse use of any illegal substance. I am posting these links for HARM REDUCTION PURPOSES becuase I have been speaking with some in the PSSD community who have been testing psychedelics with great results. Please note below the possible risks of psilocybin that I link below as well. An informed tripper is a safer tripper!

Safely using psychedelics may be a good option for some people here looking for a new way to treat OCD/Depression.

Remember that you can get it legally in amsterdam and always assume that psilocybin usage discussed on this website was done legally and safely.

Funny how you’ve decided to post on this thread now Ghost, I was literally about to post an update on my mushroom experience yesterday but never got around to doing it. I’m at work now but when I get home I’ll update you with everything.

Also the date this original thread about mushrooms was created is my birthday. Freaky O.o
We're all gonna make it brah

Please post your update when you can! I was researching this myself when I saw this thread.
:?
Used Effexor, Wellbutrin from 2012 - 2015. PSSD 4Y after.
Reinstated with Wellbutrin from March 2019 - May 2019. 65% improvement that leveled out closer to 40%.
Implemented yoga and pelvic floor therapy on and off.
Now at 85%!

Johns Hopkins University is doing research with psilocybin for treatment of depression. American citizens really should look into this more. Its very in depth and looks promising. I contacted them but because Im Canadian it would be very difficult to take part in the study. They did however give me a link to another research facility that will be conducting studies in the future.

From r/shrooms: https://www.reddit.com/r/shrooms/commen ... beautiful/

"Long run benefits - I suffered from an extremely vegetative depression for a bit, and Lexapro helped me to climb out of that. It started ruining my life though -low energy, no sex drive, started to get more emotionally depressed. So I stopped because the initial benefit of getting me out of bed was done and over with. Then I found these beautiful mushrooms, and I feel like I've truly been healed.

I've been microdosing for a few months now (~.2g every other day), it's changed my life for the better in almost every way. I actually love myself for the first time in a while. I had a slight speech impediment for pretty much my whole life, and now that's also gone, so that's kind of crazy (neurogenesis from the shrooms?)

Another interesting observation I made is that I don't masturbate on the days I microdose, it's actually cut that down a lot for me. Idk if it's because I'm too distracted or the shrooms think it's a waste of time lol. I never really cared about it that much though, but if there are any no-fap guys out there, this could be big.

I do one 'heroic' dose every month, as well."

Doesn't alude to PSSD directly, but talks about anhedonia and how it was reversed by MD-ing, and how psilocybin after lexapro brought back his sex drive (maybe from stopping the drug or the shrooms it's impossible to know without asking him more).

This is from the MDMA/Psilocybin thread but I wanted to repost it here:

Psilocybin has been really interesting to play with.

I think that it has some potential to be like Ketamine in that it has a bounce-back in libido once your mood lifts and you sober up for a few days.

For me I don't really think sex would work when the psilocybin > psilocin activity is happening - in my experience i'm not horny at this time and one time i was with a girl while tripping and i could get it up but forget trying to finish, but the day after or even the days after seem to be better. Also, i don't know why I'd even be interested in sex when tripping, there is just so much self-reflection and sensations that I'm not sure it would be pleasant.

It's also super therapeutic for trauma/OCD/depression. You break out of your thought patterns for a few hours when you're tripping and you can see things differently and bring them back to your daily life. One of the biggest misconceptions is that tripping is just seeing shit. It's way more than that. It's a full body and mind experience and for me even has some weird spiritual presence which i see as secular but honestly like it's some sort of being especially at higher doses. Hard to explain. I spend a lot of my time drawing and taking pictures. A lot of my drawings I give away to friends and i get emotional and just overall a better person. You feel like you are 5 years old again. I don't understand how people can use it like a party drug, for me it's super introspective and combined with Ketamine has cured my tendency to binge-drink. Drinking is no longer fun for me in the way it was and I love it.

This may be totally irrelevant but i know that your brain lights up when using shrooms so when I microdose I spend some time to either have sex or watch porn for an extended period of time hoping to re-train those brain circuits.

I took magic truffles last weekend.

I've tripped a few times before getting PSSD. It was always wonderful etc... i wish i stayed by psychedelics and never took the damn SSRI.

Anyway, back to last weekend. It was kinda weird. I began to trip but without the deep emotions? Made me a bit depressed, normally i feel really connected to everything on truffs but now i just felt a bit tipsy, really strange. Anyway, this gave me the 'real' insight that my emotional disconnection in my brain is really SSRI-induced and i'm a bit more 'chill' about it (used to worry a lot that i was emotional so fucked up that everything had just shut down). So i'm still happy that i did it.
