Sex Vs porn

Unread post by Breathdeep »

Pls comment on specifics
I spoke with another person who felt chemically chastrated and couldn't maintain an erection at all until he got back with his ex and was genuinely shocked that he could perform well. Im interested in other experiences of how a deep connection with a partner may help. I've also heard of responsive desire. Ppl with low Libido till sex is on the table and then a normal libido comes back. Mainly interested in ability to get erection
Sertraline 2018-2019
Fluoxetine November 2020
Symptoms low libido and ED

My libido is on the floor and after recent crashes it's such hard work to get an erection alone, with or without porn. I have a girlfriend who I'm very relaxed with, but even so I'm absolutely convinced I won't be able to get a hard on every time even before we try. However I have never failed to get an erection after we have started foreplay, all excitement comes back....very strange....and something single guys should consider before condemning themselves to a sexless life.

btw....my ssri use was the reverse of yours. Years on Fluoxetine with no problems, then 3 days on Sertraline then BANG!

Male
PSSD after 3 days on Sertraline (50mg) (Aurobindo) December 2016 to date.
Tinnitus, insomnia (1.5 hours/night sleep) poor memory/cognition as a bonus!
Possibly PSSD from October 1998...just didn't realise what I was suffering from! (pre internet)

Very interesting but not surprising. I've heard many cases of this. Were you with your partner throughout pssd?

I've had PSSD for 23 years now! (First 18 without really knowing what it was). In the early years I'd had quite a few failures.....probably because I'd tried to initiate sex too soon....as the years went by I'd learned to be patient. Post my bad Sertraline crash in 2016 I've had two relationships, both sexually OK. I've been in this relationship for 2 years and suffered 3 subsequent crashes, but things are still manageable.

How long did it take for erection to improve and failures to happen less?
Have you improved since crash also?

It is called "responsive libido". That commonly happen when relaxed during foreplay and fun with a partner. That's why you gotta be careful when you read people complaining "no libido". They might be involuntary celibates confounding loneliness with that.

I totally agree. Btw can I ask how you know you have pssd as I can't see a break in your drug history.? I don't mean this in a rude way!

I have a buspirone script ready for me to start but as bupropion which is meant to help actually made me worse I'm gonna leave it I think. Apparently buspirone ups prolactin and mines 450 atm when the upper limit is 425.
Amphetamine (street speed) helped symptoms but I took it just to see. I won't again. I'm certain dopamine would help. I'm tempted to try cabergoline if I don't heal naturally.
I think for me it's more than just dopamine maybe norepinephrine or something too as I've had better windows when I'm anxious or when I get a break in emotional blunting.

There are breaks in 2015 and 2018, after Sertraline.

How long did you take Wellbutrin/bupropion? If you don’t know, It’s an amphetamine substituted, but a mild one that needs many months, don’t expect meth-high after taking it.
Buspirone also has a broad range of doses (15 mg - 60 mg) and it’s rapidly eliminated (around 2-4 h), then it may take longer to find a dosing that works for you.

But, if you are planning to take and change drugs at the same frequency you are flooding this forum, best of luck. I can’t see this as an useful behavior.

I took bupropion for one day and it made my dick numb. After the damage done from other meds I didn't feel it wise to continue

"How long did it take for erection to improve and failures to happen less?

I think it was to do with getting the right mindset rather than how long time wise, I guess 2 years approx. The trouble was that before PSSD erections were there instantly, rock hard and for as long as I wanted. I had some serious recalibration to do.

Unfortunately I have never recovered from any crashes (except for 1 to 2 day trials of maca and ginkgo very early on)

Hope this helps
