The Famous Cyproheptadine Rebound Cure - HELP!

Unread post by Lokzo55 »

Sup everyone,

I contracted PSSD from Ashwagandha usage, amongst many other dudes unfortunately.

Now, what I need help with is developing THEORIES, as to WHY CYPROHEPTADINE WORKS.

But it doesn't work when we dose it acutely.

In fact, a single dose of cyproheptadine (<1mg), will cause the following effects:
-Horrible libido.
-Fatigue.
-Ravenous appetite.
-Incredible digestion.
-Numbing of all my emotions.

BUT...... It's the REBOUND of cypro.... That CURES us of PSSD.

DAY 4 and 5 AFTER using 1mg of cypro, there's this incredible SNAP-BACK effect....

Orgasm returns, no more blunted libido, everything amazing.

But WHY....

What is happening 4 days after Cypro?

I need help understanding how to replicate these effects.

St. John's Wort also appears to have fix my issues as well.

So ARE ALL SIGNS POINTING TOWARDS 5-HT1A dysfunction?

Anyone with same experience?

Cyproheptadine is used as antidote for cases of serotonin syndrome and could reduce sexual dysfunction caused by SSRI and antipsychotic medications. Maybe it can fix “serotonin” receptor changes caused by other meds.

Yes, I am aware of this.

I want to know why this occurs in a DELAYED fashion. Why it makes me feel WORSE initially, and then 4 days later, amazing!?

It is very sedative on his histamine action, which can be labeled as "horrible" for obvious reasons.
It is impossible to feel lots of motions, libido, while experiencing sedation.
After this effect goes away, it lets the anti-serotonin build up.

This study reported sedation days after de administration of Cyproheptadine:

Hey @arahant

Thanks for the input.

I definitely do agree the anti-histamine properties of the cypro definitely contribute.

I am more focused on the Serotonin side of things. What is happening on day 4? Is it 5-HT1A re-sensitisation?!

Maybe after few days start to make effect. Also sedative side-effects disappear.
Every med about “serotonin” take time to start work.

Have you ever tried a dopaminergic? cypro is antidopaminergic.

Not at all.

It's compensatory mechanism to 5-HT2a inverse agonism. The same rebound happens with mirtazapine and mianserin in 2-3 days

Oh yesssss, I've tried NUMEROUS dopaminergic compounds. Bromantane, Uridine, Tyrosine, the lot. They all help with other aspects of cognitive functions. But they just don't seem to feel like these compounds for me:
-Cyproheptadine.
-ALCAR
-St John's Wort

They all seem to work in a similar way ^

If 5-HT2A really is to be the receptor to target, then why does ALCAR acutely give me amazing window for 2-3 days? It works on 5-HT1A...
