PSSD and thyroid

This is for hypothesis and even educated speculation.

malink wrote: Thu Jan 14, 2021 5:20 am I tried bovine dried thyroid from New Zealand, but nothing. The Tsh was very high (20!) But it returned in the range with T3 and T4, but I maintain all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, in addition to those of PSSD. Incidentally, there are theories that T3 desensitises the 5HT1A receptor even more, so it seems that I need treatment for my thyroid, but this could make PSSD worse! How do you explain this, meso? As for PSSD, my only symptom is erectile dysfunction, which is not cured with either cialis or viagra. For the rest, the orgasm remained unchanged in the pre-PSSD and I have no other symptoms!
Erectile dysfunction could be a symptom of hypothyroidism according to research papers I read. It gets better as you control your thyroid hormones status.

About the 5HT1A desensitization, I doubt that it's significant. Thyroid hormones are generally pro-sexual, giving better libido, erectile function, orgasms, and even penile sensitivity. So, I doubt that 5HT1A desensitization is significant - and even if it was, thyroid hormones remain to be highly pro-sexual to care about this.

Try microdoses of Selegiline or Rasagiline with your thyroid hormones. Maybe you are like me and would feel it better with a dopaminergic. Who knows.
I would like to return to this point. I am continuing with 20mcg of T3 and 125mcg of T4 and it seemed like things were going for the best. The temperature rose for two days from 96.26 ° F to 97.16 ° F. This morning it dropped to 96.08 ° F and I can't understand why! I didn't touch thyroid dosages, I took the same supplements and even the same diet. Why does the temperature rise and fall?

Hi, I find this interesting. One of the very noticeable changes I went through pre-SSRI and post-SSRI was that my skin became very dry and to this day I have very dry skin. Pre-SSRI, I had very oily, dark skin, full of acne. I searched what diseases can cause dry skin and hypothyroid was one of them. So I figured there is maybe a link. My skin became very pale, thin, itchy, and dry. This was when I was in my mid 20s. Now after 15 years, I still have PSSD. I suspected something might be wrong with my thyroid since I had signs of hypothyroid but not really show up in the blood test. My symptoms are dry skin, constipation, indigestion, tiredness, anxiety, sensitivity to noise. I remember reading something that people with thyroid problems can also have problem with libido and orgasm. I tried over the years trying to get my skin oily again but failed. Another suspecting disease I am thinking of why my skin is so dry is liver disease or damaged liver.

I have very similar issues with thyroid. I have low body temp and slow metabolism and higher tsh. But I cannot tolerate thyroid meds. I get a horrible wired but tired feeling after about a week. And I get horrendous tooth and fingertip sensitivity. It seems thyroid without another component not working properly creates this situation. I’ve tried taking cortisol or prednisone with thyroid but this doesn’t seem to help. Something in this system is broken.

I also wasn’t able to tolerate thyroid meds when I took them. Levo (t4) made me feel anxious / wired the first days then it stopped having any effect. Cytomel made me feel horrible and crashed my thyroid. I think it made me more hypo.

I also have treatment resistant hypothyroidism after getting PSSD. Before PSSD I had my thyroid under control with T4 and T3 for over 10 years. PSSD does something to thyroid health or it increases TSH for some unknown reason.
