Escitalopram is a more modern version of citalopram so it should be an easy switch, I imagine a psychiatrist would be willing to prescribe that.Vercingétorix wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 6:51 amIn fact my libido is a little bit higher those last days, I believed it was just a natural fluctuation, but it could be an effect from mucuna/maca. I continue the treatement for 2 weeks and I will see the results. No effect on erections for the moment.sovietxrobot wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 5:48 pm They both started working very quickly for me. I have a friend (without PSSD) who gets same-day benefits from taking DM. I'm surprised you haven't seen any benefit. You may want to stop and trying some other things first, DM is not to be taken lightly. You can get prolactin levels tested as an imperfect proxy for dopamine levels. I would say switch to escitalopram first, then try adding buspar. If that doesnt help enough, you can add mirtazipine or trazodone. These two in particular target the serotonin receptors most associated with sexual dysfunction.
I don't want to take new medicines for now, I prefer to try first some natural suplements. I will start a new inositol cure next month (the first cure was succesful but the effects decreased after a few weeks), and try yohimbine.
Maybe I will try buspar in a few months, because it seems to be a light medicine.
About switching to escitalopram : I am only followed by a general practionner, who I already talked to about switching to another antidepressant. He doesn't want to, he told me the switching was too difficult. If I want to switch I have to see a psychiatrist.
I 'll talk to my doctor about prolactin.
I think its dangerous to believe that 'natural' supplements are somehow more safe or less impactful than prescription medication. DM for example is as potent as levodopa- it should definitely not be sold over the counter. And supplements are essentially unregulated, so you have no idea what actual dosage you are getting. I would much rather take a standardized, prescribed medicine under supervision of a doctor.
Yohimbine is a good one to try, it will boost norepinephrine levels. It can be quite stimulating, so start with low dosages. You will acclimate to this effect over time.
When you stop the maca/DM, I think you should still do a slow taper off. No sense in risking it.
