PFS or PSSD

Unread post by nw0ordeath »

Hi everyone!
I was using saw palmetto extract over the course of 5 months two years ago and then I developed sexual side effects once i stopped, which are with me to this day. I don't get morning wood except for very rare occasions and lose it quickly once i stand up anyway. It is very difficult to get erect even on cialis and I'm 21 years old.
Now, I started to develop side effects when I took one pill of 5-htp. 2 years prior I also had taken 1-2 pills of amitriptyline and carbamazepine total when I was placed in a pchych ward. I developed ed while i was on it, but then recovered quickly once i stopped because i didn't take much anyways. When I took 5-htp, next time me and my girlfriend had sex, I had DE. Didn't think much of it, but I still deceided to drop everything I was taking. I had a period of complete recovery once I quit everything cold turkey for like a week and then one evening I became very challenged in the sexual department. Could this be PSSD or unlikely from one pill of 5-HTP?
I still have the sensitivity, no anorgasmia and high libido. it just feels like my brain doesn't send a good enough signal to my genitals.
I tried a lot of things, the only thing that is helping me so far is nofap. Sometimes I feel like im 90% recovered and there's a pattern, although these days are rare and I just come back to my shitty baseline shortly. I'm willing to try anything and everything as I don't want to live like this anymore. Might as well reinstate the ssri if it will help. If nothing helps i might as well just kill myself.

It's rare for one pill of 5HTP to cause PSSD, if that is even possible. If you still have genital sensitivity and pleasurable orgasms, you are far ahead of most PSSD patients here. Having windows of recovery is a good sign. It often means you are on the path to recovery. Have you had your hormones checked? If you already have sexual dysfunction then you really don't want to take an SSRI.

Yes, i still do have genital sensitivity and pleasurable orgasms and high libido. Yeah i do have windows of recovery, but they are rare and I’ve been like that for the past 2 years with minimal improvements overall. I can get an erection with touch easily, but its extremely hard to get one just by visual stimuli alone. Yes, I did get my hormones checked.
Testosterone: 710ng/dl
SHBG: 47nmol/l
Estradiol: 104 pmol/l
PRL: always in range, sometimes a bit over the range. I tried caber in the past - didnt work.
TSH: hovering around 2.6-3.4
If nothing works then I might do low dose ssri reinstatement, but that will happen only if everything else fails as a last last resort.
Currently planning on doing a sleep study, nofap (noPMO day 16) and if these fail then testosterone therapy for 6 months.

Well, fuck. Can you send me your hormone panel please? You said that everything was in range, but you could be in range even as a 70 year old. Does the ashwaganda protocol still work for you? Might try it out.

SSRIs are way to heavy drugs for just ED. Try Cialis instead?
ED is a tricky symptom: if you think about it you are sure to have it.
Escitalopram, 10mg/day, Jan-May 2019. Fluoxetine, May-Sept 2019. Mirtazapine 7,5mg/day, November 2019-January 2020. Escitalopram, 5mg/day, Feb-May 2020.
Symptoms: sexual & emotional numbness

Im on cialis all the time, but even on cialis its freakin hard to get an erection. Usually, i can get an erection at the beginning, but after some time (2-3mins at best) it goes limp and then I can’t get it no matter what. Well, i can’t not think about it at this point because I failed too many times. I dont think the problem is innately psychological as i dont get morning wood as well.

Saw Palmetto seems like a more likely explanation. Have you visited the PFS forum? https://forum.propeciahelp.com/
