Levonorgestrel (Morning after pill)

Unread post by Ghost »

Has anyone here ever taken Levonorgestrel, the "morning after pill"? It's used for ending unintended pregnancy.

It's a strong Progesterone antagonist, so if raised Progesterone levels were inhibiting 5aR activity, and decreasing DHT, then the Levonorgestrel would reverse this (in theory).

This is also used for long periods of time in IUD's in women, so I think that for women at least it's safe. I don't know about longer periods of time for men.

I'll try it if it's safe, if you pm me some info about it (most important is dose, potential permanent effects and whether I should take it with estrogen) when you can. The estrogen is still going well (on mobile so I cba to make another post in the thread)

Should be noted that in women some possible long-term side effects are growing facial hair, and male pattern baldness. Both would be signs of increased 5aR activity.

Would you need to take it permanently, or just for a certain length of time to see permanent changes?

I have no idea if it would work or if it would be a long term fix or not. I think a person would want to take a smaller dose than is taken for birth control, which would make it safer and more affordable. As noted above, females are given it for long periods of time in an IUD, and studies have been done with males in the past for birth control.

really, I have skyrocket DHT levels. I think we should focus in antagonizing serotonin. maybe we should increase progesterone, instead of decreasing it.

That would be a surprizing find, since multiple people report too high progesterone levels. Having said that, looking at what works for some people but doesnt for others, it could be that we have the same cause but different (hormonal) balance issues.

This one has spiked my curiosity as excessive progesterone can cause similar pssd symptoms.Like ghost said, this should be dosed in smaller doses if male. It should be safe. I dont think we should rule anything out at this point, curios to know if any pssd females have tried BC or plan B since PSSD.

@Ghost, Juvo feel free to move my post to the trial section if needed, i couldnt as it was locked.

I wanted to share my experience with Levonorgestrel, as it has been mentioned a couple of times already.
Some people have talked about the possible benefits, and some have tried it without any effect. I actually tried this too about two months ago.

I cut up 1 pill, into 6 pieces and took 1/6th of a pill for two days in a row.
Unlike some others i did have a significant effect. I felt wired almost instantly with a clear energy boost and reduced brain fog. My sexuality however took a fast dive, including penile shrinkage. I basically felt annoyed and off and it took 2 weeks for things returned to normal.
I am not sure what it means, perhaps it blocked progesterone to zero, causing these effects. Very interesting how it didnt do much for some others, but it does give me a feeling progesterone is a key factor for at least some of us.
If you will try it yourself, dont use 1 pill for 7 days straight as said in the trial topic, but use in lower dosage. This can be powerful stuff.
