Do I have PSSD?

Unread post by Thiswestle97 »

Ok. 29 years old and I took cymbalta for 18 months. Didn't notice any erection problems but I wasnt sexually active. Tried to have sex one day and my penis went limp when I put on a condom. But me and my ex eventually found a work around and I was able to stay erect and have sex.

Occasionally this issue would rear it's head again, and it definitely made me upset. So I got off cymbalta, and for the first few weeks everything was cool, and then it happened again, and i got very upset about it. I was able to figure out a way to stay hard during sex but it took some effort.

I've gone to a urologist and they were like "lol everything's cool as long as u can get an erection on your own you don't have ED. No testing needs to be done bye"

But yeah... Something is definitely different. It just seems like my ability to maintain an erection is a crapshoot. I still wake up with erections often but they aren't firm or long lasting like when I was younger. I read that men get 10 random erections or something during the day... No random erections here.

I'm able to get an erection without touching myself if I fantasize enough and am not feeling depressed (did I mention getting off cymbalta has destroyed my mental health?). If I'm really horny I can maintain an erection for about 2-3 minutes without touching it... With stimulation, I can keep it up. If I'm "in the mood", after ejaculating my penis stays hard for about a minute.

It just seems like something is off. When I was young I took lexapro for 2 years but didn't suffer any consequences. I took cymbalta for about 4 months In my early 20s but this didn't happen.

It's hard to say for me because I went for about 7 years without having sex at all. I didn't notice that I was getting less erections until trying to have sex, so I can't say when this started. It could have began before the meds.

Any insight is valuable... it seems like I can still have a sex life but it takes a good deal of concentration, and I guess I have to steer clear of meds and feel shitty. Also I've gotten off of porn entirely, as I don't think having porn as my only stimulation for 7 years could have helped. Thanks

Also, I'd like to note that I've been off of cymbalta for 6 months and my other sexual side effects like loss of sensation and delayed ejaculation went away. I was only on 20 mg of cymbalta (lowest dosage). My doctor told me not to split the pills so I did the day off/day on plan and eventually stopped. As you can tell I'm a very anxious person... Also, very inexperienced with sex (I had only had sex about 10 times in my life before this)

This is very interesting. You took cymbalta two times, but after first cure you had not sexual dysfunctions after termination. This is not first case I have heard of it.
Can someone explain it ?

Sometimes you will fall and only sometimes your ankle will snap, sometimes your ankle is feeling more subtle and stretched, maybe it has more nutrition or sleep at the time of impact. The same happened with me with both PSSD and ankle twists.

It sounds like you do have PSSD to me. The same description you gave happened to me at 20/21 years old. It is PSSD, not age related.

The same symptoms happened to you at 21, like even though it wasn't complete and total erectile dysfunction, something was off? Did it ever go away and if it did how long did it take?

Can you get erected with porn without physical stimulation?

Yes, if I'm watching the right porn it will give me a very robust erection. This is because it's the way I'm most used to. If I'm not feeling shitty I can get an erection without porn and without physical stimulation
