Depression back - had PSSD before. What to take?

Unread post by BrixV2 »

Hello,

I took citalopram (20-40mg) around 2013 for maybe 6 months and the just stopped. Around 2013 I was 21/22.
I discovered what we all know and got PSSD. Over the years it got better and better and I'm at a point where it's pretty well most of the time. I can have sex regularly without viagra and I'm able to enjoy orgasms.

But now I am at a point where the depression is coming back or is getting stronger. I had the first appointment a week ago with a therapist and his opinion is, that I probably have some kind of chronic depression, probably a dysthymia.

Until some weeks ago I was pretty sure that I won't ever take antidepressants (espacially SSRIs) again but my mind has changed. I'm not coming any further at the moment and I'm struggling with everything.

So what can I take? Is it risky to jump back on an SSRI? Should I try an SNRI?

And please, I don't need any other advice and yes I'm going to start a therapy.

Extremely risky to do ssri again, don't ever do it in my opinion. You can worsen yourself so bad you won't experience any emotion anymore in your life. You think depression is bad but you won't be able to experience even sadness so empty you can become. Wishing you would feel depression again so empty the ssri can permanently make you. I hope people can give you tips on depression. For me nofap helps a lot with such issues.good luck bro.

Why didn't you come back and report on your recovery? You know that would give hope to the community. Were you just too lazy, and now when you need advice you create a profile? Anyway I wouldn't suggest you go back on SSRIs, you got lucky the first time, you might not be lucky the second time.

Not really to be honest. I will have a look at them.

That's the one thing which never really went away... feeling empty and emotionless.
So you mean, nofap helps you with being less depressed? Or with PSSD in general?
My girlfriend isn't here for about 6 weeks so I'm fapping every day probably... Maybe there's a link and I just never saw it.

Yes, you are right, I should have. But you can't probably imagine how it was to have PSSD around that time and at this age. And how many hours I spent reading and investigating. I was just happy to close that door at some point. Now I opened it again...

I've always wondered what happened to the old members. This forum has tons of accounts but few active members. Did they get better? Cured and never came back? Did they accept their condition and move on with life? Are they dead?

It would be great if those who did improve came back to check in. Really - you can visit this board repeatedly and research for hundreds of hours, yet can't post a simple update that you're naturally feeling better and that there remains hope for others? Come on.

You joined this forum on Wed Dec 11, 2019 6:22 am. Welcome!

We know that doctors tend to push SSRI to everyone, and a few people do not experience sexual side effects.
Regarding taking it, you can mention during your appointment with the doctor that you have already taken SSRI before, and the sexual side effects were too much to handle and persisted for years. You would instead prefer something that does not have side effects like that. For sure, there are alternatives alongside cognitive behavioral therapy.

I never was a member and never post anything. I think that is just my decision.
And I think that's a big part of my recovery that I just blocked this shit out completely after a year or two. All this fucking reading and researching.
And yes, I'm sharing my story when I'm a bit better.

But now back to topic please..
