I think this is the key honestly I wish I could get some.

I think the effects are permanent in the sense that they upregulate the downregulated SERT in the raphe nuclei. SO theoretically you can take a round of it and upregulates your SERT and keep it upregulated as long as you don't mess them up again with SSRI.

There is no other substance that we know of that up regulates them in the Raphe. Some of the theories I've read on here speculate due to the downregulation there excess serotonin is there and has downstream effects the acts as a high serotonin feedback loop.

Cyproheptadine works to lower serotonin and upregulate 5 ht1 a receptor but it is a futile exercise without proper functioning SERT unless you take it continually which for many of us is undesirable. You can upregulate with cyproheptdatine but I think as long as your SERT in the raphe is downregulated your brain will downregulate the receptor again because of the excess.

By all means I don't think it effects everything as a cure all. I think gut microbiome and neurosteroids, epigentic expression play a role too and perhaps the treatment will have to be multi facetted to fix everything but I think if we tried this we would see improvements. I think the Sert levels in the raphe may upregulate naturally as the brain try's to achieve homeostasis but I think this push might be needed from a substance to really get to pre ssri levels.

Anyways hopefully can try this.

I'm currently starting lithium so I don't know if it's a good idea to mix the two because there is always a risk of serotonin syndrome with lithium.
When I stop taking lithium, I will try Nardostachys jatamansi capsules.

do you think this could work with the plant?

I would not mix the capsules. I am not sure if it will have a pro SERT upregulation effect because there are other compounds within the root besides deso. Better to be on the safe side.

Let me know how the lithium goes.

I wouldn't recommend taking lithium, especially if you have severe pssd. It's a potent 5ht1a agonist and raises serotonin significantly. You're playing with fire. Positive effects are usually followed by a crash so don't take for a long period of time.

Jatamansi may help but it will be less targeted. I'd recommend trying to source the extracted compound studied. I'm a big believer in the sert loss theory, as it's supported by research, and it's the reason why I think I've crashed from various things.

I'm only at the beginning and there hasn't been a blood test yet and i already have severe pssd.

I saw my psychatrist yesterday who prescribed a check-up blood test but she didn't give me an appointment until August which doesn't really suit me because I'm only at 400mg and I doubt that I am at the therapeutic dose so if it is to take a treatment for 6 months without being at the therapeutic dose, I would probably be better off stopping it.

I'm seeing another psychologist next week because I'm not convinced of the first one especially since I asked her if there were any long term effects and she told me no but I still discovered that I had to stop smoking by taking lithium, as it could cause a loss of bladder control, which I did not know and I prefer to avoid because I already have problems on this side, I have an overactive bladder.

Also before yesterday I was hyper constipated, yesterday diarrhea with blood all day and today a burning sensation and discomfort.
In short, if it doesn't work with lithium, I don't think I'll have much choice but to return to escitalopram because it's the only medication that helps me digest properly even if I don't like it at all.

the effect it has on the puborectalis muscle which has already been damaged by this treatment.

I tried mirtazapine, it makes me burn and want to eat all the time and I'm not talking about the constipation it causes.
bupropion, I'm tight as a thong and insomnia and anxiety and loss of appetite and constipation.
vortioxetine has no effect on morale, it even increases anxiety.
