SNRI ( like Venlafaxine ) and others new poisons like Vortioxetine, etc - Hormonal Values

Unread post by Coraggio »

SSRI alter steroidogenesis for sure like Finasteride. While Finasteride is known to inhibit 5-Alpha reductase, and so the conversion of Testosterone in Dihydrotestosterone,
SSRI are found to change others enzymes activity like 3-Beta HydroxySteroid Dehydrogenase and 3Alpha HydroxySteroid Dehydrogenase that are very important for normal human androgens and hormones.

Here articles about SSRI 's hormanal dysruption activity:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2670606/
http://orbit.dtu.dk/en/publications/eff ... 0c10).html
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC23979/

WHY do hormonal test are so Important? Well, if we have noraml testosterone but High progesterone, For exemple, progesterone inhibits testosterone action. it is recently found that progesterone decrease testosterone uptake by both Brain and Testis of 70%!! this can explain our condition alone. Also progestrone is recently found downregulate SERT in colon ephitelium, so Progesterone can mimicks itself SSRI activity. It's very probable that we have not only one hormanal values altered.

So if you have taken this drug you MUST test These Hormones in the same Blood Sample:

- LH
- FSH
- ACTH
- PRL
- TSH- Reflex
- DHEA-S
- Progesterone
- (17 - OH - Progesterone)
- Delta4 Androstenedione
- Testosterone
- Free testosterone
- 17- Beta estradiol
- Dihydrotestosterone, it may be a little expensive but please do it
- (Pregnanolone)
- Allopregnanolone ( known as Pregnan 3Alpha-17- diol- 20- one)
- 3Alpha Androstanediol ( known also as 5α-androstane-3α,17β-diol or 3Alpha-diol)

Note: hormones in parenthesis are optional

If could be expensive but show the articles above to your endocronocrinologist and try to get a prescription explaing that PSSD is very similar to PFS, etc, etc, etc,
If you note that some hormone is high or low, PLEASE report here the value with normal range( Every lab has its normal range that can differ from the others ).

Sorry for my bad English. This list can be updated so check it out this thread regularly.

I can't afford to retest my levels, but I do have my results from several years ago. I was already trialing hormone replacement therapies so the results may not be particularly useful.

I was on amitriptyline, then Prozac, then Effexor, starting before puberty so I never had a clear onset.

Age 21, about 5 years after withdrawal (2010)
Prior to this test I had tried taking hCG, transdermal testosterone and hydrocortisone. I had stopped them all for some time before testing however.
