Emailing medical researchers

Unread post by lost_soul »

A lot of very qualified medical researchers/academics have public email addresses, especially ones involved with universities. I think if enough people sent emails to as many of these people as possible we may be able to find some experts to do research on PSSD. It might be an idea to write up a template including:

1) Information about PSSD including proof that it's real - PILs are probably the best way to do this

2) Your own story and an explanation of how horrible it is for you and other sufferers

3) Information about the theories we have for the cause of PSSD

4) Inquiries into the possibility for research and clinical trials

5) Demonstration of how obscure and under-researched PSSD is

And surely if the message is sent to thousands of researchers across the world, a few of them will be interested in helping or know other people who can?

It's a very useful things, we started to do this some months ago and we found two research groups interested in studying this condition (Melcangi and Ulm's researchers). You can read the answer of a researcher here http://www.pssdforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=942
You can also find a "standard mail" to send them and some other useful actions here http://www.pssdforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=968
Activism is our most powerful weapon, so let's use it.

I was thinking today - I'm going to email course leaders of relevant courses at universities and suggest this as a research area for their students. They are always looking for new research topics and their new-ness to the field could provide us with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Feel free to join me

Look for people who are in a similar field, and that's a good idea. If you can get someone to do a PhD on it then you'd have a lot of time put into it.
