Bunny wrote:BrokenDoll: If you scroll down this page (http://www.pssdforum.com/viewtopic.php? ... 1&start=50), there's a list of all medications/supplements I experimented with to combat PSSD since 2009. None of them worked for me, but many of them worked for other people. (The list doesn't include the SSRIs I took briefly in 2016/2017.)

I started trauma therapy weekly and consistently beginning January this year (before that I was in CBT for OCD). I want to say the return of emotions started in February or March.
Oh, I see thank you. I thought you were also taking wellbutrin or bupropion after you quit SSRIs a decade ago but I must have gotten you mixed up with another person.

That's really great, I'm so glad that you are well now

BrokenDoll: No, that was me. I must have misunderstood. In the ten years since discontinuing SSRIs, I would take bupropion on and off because that helped my sex drive/emotions a little bit. (Bupropion's not an SSRI, but it is an antidepressant.) It wasn't any kind of cure, though.

Hey guys, is anyone else currently seeing a specialist who may be able to prescribe lithium? I think we need to give this a go.

Do any of you science minded people have any thoughts about lithium’s action and how it has helped - or orher more accessible drugs that could work in the same method?

Most psychiatrists will probably do it. If you say you tried all the SSRI's, Bupriopion and SNRI's did not work and counsellors you have seen have said they think you have bipolar disorder. You have had bad reactions when you tried antipsychotics or something and you would like to exercise some more options and would like to try Lithium.

Something like that could probably get you it. Also I think it is a herbal nutrient that you can buy, I accidentally took Lithium Orotate water and Zinc water together once and my arousal came back a little bit. I was having erections in public again, and I felt great (the alive not anhedenia feeling). When I looked up that it was the same as the psychiatric drug Lithium I freaked out and did not touch it again.

It may be lethal in overdoses (lots of people died OD'ing on the old psych drugs), so don't mention if you ever have overdosed before or had any suicidal thoughts or feelings. Say no to those questions.

That's kind of tricky. Obviously you cant just go in and ask for it... instant red flag. Also cant just tell them you are bipolar as any doctor worth a damn is going to want you to tell them symptoms not your own diagnosis. And again, if hes worth a damn then he will catch on instantly you just read the symptoms off webMD and are rattling them back.

I ask moonwife about it and she said lithium is generally only given for specific bipolar indications and not a blanket drug. It even gets harder because it is generally not given as a first line of defense due to possible nasty side effects and lithium toxicity which is potentially life threatening.

I do agree it is something we need to look into. Looking at lithium's mechanism it doesn't make a lot of sense it would treat PSSD. Then again PSSD makes no sense so can NOT discount it. Im lucky in the fact moonwife can prescribe me whatever I want to try (assuming its available in the country.) We have discussed lithium and are weighing the risks before take the plunge.

(correct me if I am wrong) Lithium is a natural nutrient so like Vitamin C a doctor CAN prescribe it, but it can be easily legally bought anywhere. Off Amazon and in shops on the high street as well. In the UK and USA. The psychiatric form used is lithium carbonate, lithium orotate is just another form, both lithium.

If I was you I would be scared of the side effects, even though it is a mineral and not a drug. Overdoses of minerals poison and shut down the body in the same way... in my opinion. I mean just look at the effects and side effects of mineral overdosing compared to drugs, your body freaks out and does funny things unable to cope because it is not like taking it in food like manageable doses in nature. If you do decide to be taking it please make sure you get regular health blood checks on the kidneys and thyroid, diabetes inspidious is a potential risk. Just get thorough blood tests regularly please. And keep us updated...

Depending on the country a bit, lithium is used for major depression. Side effects can be significant, but also depend on the dosage. As far as I can tell, bunny was on the lower side.
If it would help, I wonder if it will be a breakthrough of the type that we have seen with prami or SJW, meaning long term use is not needed.

Makes me wanna cry thinking about possibly being to go back to how I was pre-PSSD, this thread gives me alot of hope for that. So was it lithium basically that gave OP succesful results? Also would that still work for a male?
