Licorice Root

Another little discovery that i came across, some of the success stories posted on licorice may actually hold some weight... Licorice inhibits the breakdown of cortisol, so there will be a large increase in cortisol in the bloodstread following long term use.

http://www.researchgate.net/publication ... _receptors

Dorsal raphe glucocorticoid receptors activation by corticosterone may therefore lead to an increased signalling of 5-HT1A autoreceptors that may become counteracted by galanin receptor activation. Glucocorticoids, by enhancing dorsal raphe 5-HT1A autoreceptor function, may therefore cause reduced 5-HT neuronal activity

I tried licorice root and couldn't last past 5 days because of it's effects on me, but i am going to try it again at some point and try brave past it to the 3 month+ mark where hopefully the changes @ presynaptic autoreceptors will be enough to notice the difference. Others success stories can't all be baloney!

Poor resistance to infections (in general)
Chronic Infections
Chronic Allergies
Skin, Dry &/or "thin"
Low Blood Pressure
Easily irritated
General Nervouseness
Weakness
Anxiety/Depression/Fearfullness
Food "sensitivities", or inhalant allergies

Hard to gain weight or to build muscle mass
Poor Memory
Excessive hunger
Low tendency to perspire
Dark circles under eyes
Indigestion, "Pit" of stomach, distress/pain
Insomnia
Tenderness in adrenal area

If you answered yes to 5 or more of the above, you might be experiencing symptoms of hypoadrenia."

Another success - Licorice root - chris2038 OP

Hi all,

Just posting to inform that licorice root HAD to have made a difference after my first dosage. Is it really able to work that fast?

Observations:

less intrusive thoughts during intercourse and a better ability to concentrate
able to recognize climax better
more positive response to sexual stimuli
more potent orgasm
better feeling during refractory period (post-orgasm)

Sex appears to be fulfilling again. This enhanced (normal) refractory period will help out big time. Outside of all this, I do feel more like "myself".

Sonny, I believe you mentioned something about my glutimate receptors being out of wack. Would licorice root have helped?

Looks like I'm going to have to cut this experiment short, as I'm adversely affected by low testostrone levels.

From every website out there:

"Additionally, licorice root can decrease testosterone levels, so men who are infertile or suffer from erectile dysfunction should steer clear of it as well."

I still don't get it. I thought licorice root was supposed to help with things like erectile dysfunction. Of course, the subjects in these studies that experienced huge drops in test levels took 7g a day (p<0.001). Each recommended serving contains 3 grams to be taken three times a day. Nowhere on these sites does it state that licorice root is used to treat sexual dysfunction. Does this mean that a much lower dosage is probably best to help our cause? Theres no way in hell I'm going to keep taking licorice root as a short-term solution when it has the capability to screw me up in the long-run.

Please advise.

I'll have to look into that when I get a chance. At the moment I'm not sure.
