Fluoxetine ruined my life.

Unread post by Shaquille1997 »

I'm 21 years old and I still suffer from erectile dysfunction since June 2018 after I used Fluoxetine for one week, I freaked out because I couldn't get a erection anymore so I threw the pills away. When I had sex with this girl I was dating for some weeks, I realized that in my mind I wanted to have sex but at the same time I didn't, so my libido was suddenly pretty low (back then it was high as hell, I had sex in my mind constantly) and I could get a erection very quick. When my depression and anxiety/social anxiety was at it worst, I still had a high libido and no erection problems.

So you see, I used meds that were actually trying to help me feel better, but it made it worse. Oh yeah, the girl that I was sleeping with? Well she didn't like it at all and she gone. Never had sex before I used the meds.

But you guess it, those side effects pretty much ruined my sex life since my penis wasn't fully erect and it took minutes for me to get it and it would go away quick. Since then I didn't try to get a GF anymore. Even though I really want too and since I'm going to study Social Work at a new school in early September where the majority of the students who study there, is a female.

So as you can see, I need to get rid of it. I want to have a family, to have children. I also have this rage in me that I want to hurt my psychiatrist because he put me into this mess. Some people use other antidepressants but I don't know if I can trust these, especially the ones who are SSRI.

Edit: There are some slight signs of improvement however so I believe that it can be cured, but the improvements are very little. My erections are slightly better after I meditate but it's not how it was before I used those meds.

1. Trying new meds like wellbrutine, I don't know exactly how many pills that I needed to take but I used it for two weeks at 150 mg.

2. Viagra, it give you some confidence but remember its because of the pill, so I stopped using it.

3. Urologist, took a blood test and everything was fine (Testorone level was 22, I tend to train alot and eat foods like meat, fish, vegetables, rice, potatoes, all that with almost no sauce) cholesterol was normal, and I didn't had diabetes so the problem was not my penis, but my brain.

4. Sexuologist helped me a bit, had great advice and she gave me masturbation excerise to let the blood flow and that I need to use my own imagination, told me that I should stop watching porn (I admit, this is a difficult one but I stopped since yesterday, I blocked every porn site with OpenDNS).

5. Pelvic specialist, her excerises involved meditation/mindfulness.

6. I meditate almost everyday for 5-10 minutes via a app this actually works since I feel less anxious, more in touch with my surroundings instead of my emotions and thoughts.

7. Acupuncture, I am going there since a month ago and it improved my self esteem and my moods and the Chinese guy, like everyone else, told me that I needed to let things go and that the problem is all in my head, he said that the medicines were 20% of the problem since I only used it for a week.

8. Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I do this for months now, 1 day per week and its very helpfull for my mood.

So, does anyone have any ideas? Because I actually tend to stress less, more confident etc but its weird you know. I'm trying to have a positive outlook on life since there are many things that are going great for me, but at the same time I have this anger against my psychiatrist.

I actually do have an idea. I will recommend You to lose the anger towards anybody as soon as possible. It helps. You. I.understand that You are pissed off, it is natural. But..- do You think Your doctor wanted to help You or to hurt You? I think You know the right answer. You came to him with a problem that he wanted to HELP You with. I can assure You that 99% of doctors do not even have an idea what PSSD even is. It is the sad cycle how western medicine works - doctors are trained to go by the book (they actually HAVE to) and when a patient has certain problem - they follow their prescribed rules and prescribe medications. The system is bad, not the doctors. The sooner You leave all the anger towards Your doctor, the better for You in all ways - and for Your psyche and body - harboring rage and anger is counterproductive towards healthy mind, thoughts, overall health and moving towards recovery.

But giving myself false hope don't make it go away, of course I'm angry I have been spending tons of money for over the past year and nothing worked for me. He tried to help me, he fucked up. Now I have to deal with the consequences.

In the end of the day, he doesn't have to live with it. He is going to call me tomorrow and he will talk to me.

So if everyone here has any tips how to cure this, please respond.

a few notes of advice from me..

First off, you should really test more hormones than just testosterone. You should get a full hormone panel done which includes things like SHBG, Prolactin, All pituitary hormones (LH, FSH etc), progesterone, and more. If you can afford it, please do this and post results. I know there are atleast a few threads around here with a good list of what to test.

Try Cialis instead of Viagra, it's much much better and the effects last a few days instead of like 4 hours. And in my experience it does not give a headache like Viagra does.

Try taking Zinc and Vitamin D. And try intensive leg workouts a few times a week for a while.

I did not mean it as any false hope that letting go of anger will cure You, but it can only contribute for the better than for the worse for You. At least psychologically if nothing else. I have been there and I just speak of my experience. I cannot speak of the cure itself because I am not there, but what brings me improvments is in my signature. I also agree with Gameclay. I wish You good luck on Your PSSD journey
