Hi!
I recently started taking B12 supplements because i am apparently really low my GP says.
The only thing is that since i started i Feel worse.
I have more akathisia and Feel more emotionally detached/blunted.
I cant Feel anything when listening to my favourite song. When i look at a pretty view it is like looking at a white wall. I know it is pretty, but i cant Feel it in my body. Watching my favourite tv show is a chore because i cant Feel interest or pleasure. I just Feel empty and bored.
I cant Feel happy, sad, joy, interest, motivation, pleasure. It is just nothing. Like my brain just shut off all emotional response. I cant even Feel empathy or love for my family!
I get akathisia worsening because b12 can be stimulating, but i dont understand How B12 can cause worse anhedonia/numbness.
I am more disconnected and Feel so depressed.
Has Anyone experienced this? Is this a crash or just normal with B12?
Can i get better?
Some say B12 can cause epigenetic methylation, which can lead to more severe anhedonia. Is this even true? What is the mechanism behind it?
Is the B12 making my anhedonia worse?

No one experience this? No one know what is happening?

I'm no expert but there are two ways of producing B12 Cyanocobalamin and Methylcobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is produced using cyanide, it's cheaper but regarded as inferior due to the cyanide aspect. Methylcobalamin, is a methyl donor which evidently is bad news for PSSD sufferers....which type did you use? I stand to be corrected.
Male
PSSD after 3 days on Sertraline (50mg) (Aurobindo) December 2016 to date.
Tinnitus, insomnia (1.5 hours/night sleep) poor memory/cognition as a bonus!
Possibly PSSD from October 1998...just didn't realise what I was suffering from! (pre internet)

Hi, i took 1000 mcg cyanocobalamin for five days. Noticed bad anhedonia a few hours after the first dose.
Does cyanocobalamin not work in the same way on the brain as methylcobalamin?
Is it not the mechanism of the B12 that is causing the anhedonia, but instead just the additioanal compound?

This is possible. I think B12 in high dose can alter methylation and affect total serotonin synthesis somehow.

How long before it goes back to baseline?ErgogenicHealth wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:35 am This is possible. I think B12 in high dose can alter methylation and affect total serotonin synthesis somehow.
