I copied this title from someone who wrote it on Reddit

yesterday a study was published in Nature (a very important scientific journal) that has sparked the media with many articles being shared on social media like
thetimes.co.uk, independent.co.uk, neurosciencenews.com, news.sky.com, theconversation.com, newscientist.com, scotsman.com, telegraph.co.uk, psychologytoday.com, dailymail.co.uk, walesonline.co.uk, hulldailymail.co.uk, etc.

the study reiterates that there is no evidence between depression and "low serotonin"

opportunity to comment on PSSD! it will be convenient to write a comment somewhat accurately and useful (maybe even linking to a site on PSSD) and copy paste it many times.

just some of the links on FB:

from the computer on FB there is an option to search through the most recent posts and it will be enough to search : serotonin depression to find many more!

Those who don't have FB or twitter or can't comment on PSSD with their account... can comment though on Reddit to these threads:

I have left comments around, we should leave comments in bursts!

you could link to the gofund or the new Rxisk fund or the Canadian association site or tell about your experience...

the important thing is to do it now, today or tomorrow

I don’t know why it is a scandal. The low serotonin thing has been always presented as a hypothesis nothing more. In fact many papers in the literature and articles written about depression declare that the root cause of depression is not yet clear.

Makes no sense, SSRI works by blocking the reabsorption of serotonin. Depression & Anxiety are not results of “low serotonin” but all about receptors and synapses.

Before taking SSRI, for anxiety, I do serotonin test blood and is normal. SSRI just save my life solving my problem, and everytime I need it.

True, but I think the problem is that this is the way that the drugs are being prescribed to patients - they are still being told that these drugs balance brain chemicals that are out of balance, causing depression (a friend's partner was prescribed with this story only last month). It was a marketing ploy (just like the name 'antidepressant') but it has found its way into medical education and practice.

I posted this into the comments section at the end of the Evening Standard article, and it vanished shortly after :(

"Another little known fact about SSRI and SNRI medications is that they frequently cause devastating sexual dysfunction and that, for some people, this can last indefinitely after stopping the drugs. Post SSRI/SNRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD) was recognised as a medical condition by the European Medicines Agency in 2019, yet few, if any, patients are warned about this at the point of prescribing. In spite of the vast number of prescriptions that are issued for these drugs annually, this is not being treated as a research priority and it is not known how many people will be affected by this life-altering condition. What is known is that it affects all ages and both sexes, and the length of time you are on a drug seems to make little difference.

If you are taking one of these drugs and are worried about this risk, do not stop taking your drugs abruptly - speak to your doctor about PSSD first."

SSRIs have shown to help in clinical trials. The truth is many people benefited from SSRIs regardless of what causes depression and what SSRIs do. The truth is only a minor group of patients had PSSD among patients who took SSRIs. The truth is some people developed PSSD like symptoms after taking supplements like 5htp or ashwaganda. I took 5htp and had symptoms worse than what most people described in this forum. I never took an SSRI in my whole life. But instead of focusing on what is peculiar about us genetically or maybe having a pre-existing condition, let’s just only focus on SSRI and what they do to our bodies.
