Pain Reduction Comes From Spinal Cord

Unread post by HzeTmy »

I just found on google :

Antidepressants may increase neurotransmitters in the spinal cord that reduce pain signals. But they don't work immediately. You may feel some relief from an antidepressant after a week or so, but maximum relief may take several weeks. People generally experience moderate pain relief from antidepressants.

That's why i have reduced pain overall, could point to poor erectile function also - some kind of spinal cord neurotransmitters overflow hmmm

PSSD could be caused by enhanced serotonergic action on 5HT2 receptors present in the spinal cord. Increased serotonin competes with dopamine causing a cascade of anti-sexual effects.

Adverse effects
• Increased serotonergic action on 5HT3 in GIT causes nausea, diarrhea
and other associated GI symptoms. It usually occurs in the early phase
of the treatment and reduces after 1st week.
• SSRIs increase tone throughout the body including brain and spinal cord
due to its serotonergic action.
Sexual dysfunction is seen in one third of the patients treated with
SSRIs. Enhanced serotonergic action on 5HT2 receptors present in the
spinal cord causes sexual dysfunction which includes decreased or loss
of libido, delayed ejaculation and delayed orgasm or anorgasmia. In
animal studies with SSRIs shows that increased serotonin in CNS
reduce the dopamine levels which has a role in normal sexual
functioning(43).These effects may decrease with time.

• SSRIs usually do not affect weight of the patient except paroxetine
which causes weight gain.
