Endocannabinoid System
Endocannabinoid System
I was reading the RxISK Prize commentaries section, and a guy name Jap pointed PSSD being a problem with the ECS.
A quick introduction to ECS:
https://www.hawaiianethos.com/ethos-blo ... oid-system
After a quick search, this is what I found:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3648779/
Take a look at section 4: "ANTIDEPRESSANT TREATMENT MODULATES THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM"
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3951193/
Effects of ADs(SSRIs, TCAs and MAOIs), AC and other substances on the ECS.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22025726
Here we can see a link with neurosteroids, mainly with THDOC who is sintetized by 5α-reductase type I and 3α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4318341/
Interaction between ECS and Opioid Systems
From what I read, problems in the ECS can lead to things very similiar of what we saw on SSRIs discontinuation(both transitory and persistent symptoms)

Re: Endocannabinoid System
I've been interested in CBD oil for some time. I know that I've heard of it helping PSSD in the past.

Re: Endocannabinoid System
Im able to order medical cannabis and ive tried high cbd strains along with regular strains and it definitely has a somewhat beneficial effect for me. For example ill have a bit more libido, then sensitivity might not be increased but the whole experience feels enhanced especially orgasm.
It doesnt seem to do much for anhedonia unfortunately (for me at least), although im going to test out some different strains here soon. I do find since ive been doing it regularly ill occasionally "feel" how nice out it is, and be able to experience things "in the moment" more. But my mood can still be pretty low whilst on it and the anhedonia (kind of like the physical numbness) will still be there, and ill still feel numb, but certain experiences like eating junk food or porn will be enhanced.

Re: Endocannabinoid System
EGCG is cb1 (or 2 ?) agonist and maybe hence @Mahamur improovement (speculation only)
Sorry for my bad (terrible) English.
Re: Endocannabinoid System
Yes, Catechins like EGCG binds to both cb1(moderate affinity) and cb2(lesser).
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19897346
SJW has catechins too.
18beta-GA wich is a component of licorice root extract, downregulates CB1
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1 ... 300763/pdf
And Licorice root acts as a SERM too
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26631549
Correct me if im wrong in this. Seems like Inositol phospholipids are the building blocks for 2-AG(endogenous cb1 and cb2 full agonist)

Re: Endocannabinoid System
cannabis does nothing for my libido which is my major problem (complete inability to have sexual fantasies), but does enchance sexual pleasure for me including orgasm.

Re: Endocannabinoid System
Uh.... Is this a big deal? Between this and the recent progesterone stuff, are we getting closer?
Re: Endocannabinoid System
I don't smoke weed often because I find it's hard on the cognition the next day, but it definitely enhances sex by a lot.. Both erection quality and sensitivity

Take a look at some things that affects the ECS:
- Cortisol
- Testosterone
- DHT
- Progesterone
- Epinephrine
- Tea/EGCG
- Inositol
- Pregnenolone
- Choline
- Curcumin
- Fluoxetine
- Valproic Acid
Im just speculating...
